Programs

International Student and Scholar Services engages international students and scholars in a variety of programs to meet their changing needs. Through these programs, we hope to actively build pathways of communication between the international and U.S. communities on campus. Explore the programs below to find out which programs best meet your needs!

Intercultural Training Center

Offers individualized workshops and experiential activities to groups aimed at improving communications across cultures.

Culture Corps

Brings international perspectives into classrooms and onto campus through a series of either faculty or international student initiated projects.

Career Services and Workshops

Assists international students in preparing for and carrying out a successful job search in order to achieve their career goals.

International Student Ambassadors

Offers insight to prospective and new students of what life is like as a current University of Minnesota international student.

International Buddy Program

Provides new international students during fall semesters with opportunities to develop friendships with students from other countries through intercultural learning, service, and social activities.

Small World Coffee Hour

Invites all international and domestic students, faculty and staff to gather together in relaxing social environment. Each interactive event has the flavoring of a specific cultural region’s activities, foods and traditions.

Discussion Groups

Gathers small groups of international students and scholars together in an intimate atmosphere to explore their cross-cultural experiences and perspectives.

International Student Orientation Program (ISOP)

Orientates newly admitted international students to living and studying in the U.S., the valuable resources available at the University of Minnesota, and how to maintain their non-immigrant legal status.

International Scholar Orientation Program

Orientates new international scholars and their family members to: living and working in the U.S.; finding and using the valuable resources available at the University of Minnesota and in the Twin Cities; maintaining their non-immigrant legal status; and more!

International Student Financial Aid Program

Administers a limited amount of financial aid to degree-seeking international students who are experiencing financial hardship due to unforeseen circumstances. This program is available to those who have completed one-year or more of full-time credits at the University of Minnesota.

ISSS – EdPA Graduate Internship

Provides graduate students in the Educational Policy & Administration Department with the opportunity to work within the International Student & Scholar Services Office.
