    NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS:
    1. SPECIAL REGISTRATION: CLARIFICATION ABOUT REPORTING LATE!

    If you are required to report to the immigration office for Special Registration (or NSEERS) and you miss your deadline for reporting (for either your original registration or for your follow-up registration), please consult an ISSS adviser immediately! We would like to provide you with advice before you report to the immigration office. See an adviser during walk-ins or call 612-626-7100 to schedule an appointment as soon as possible! Please check the ISSS web site for Advising Walk-in hours.

    2. MOCK INTERVIEW APPOINTMENTS

    Would you like to practice being interviewed for a job and get advice and tips to improve your interviewing skills? If yes, call ISSS at 612-626-7100 and ask to schedule a Mock Interview appointment with an ISSS advisor.

    3. ACADEMIC TRAINING FOR J-1 STUDENTS: TUESDAY, NOVEMBER
    4, 3:30 – 5:00 PM, ANDERSON HALL 270 (CAREER WORKSHOP)

    ISSS advisers will discuss Academic Training work authorization for J-1 students. You will find out about the eligibility requirements, application process, and timeline needed. (J-1 scholars and professors are NOT eligible for Academic Training.)

    Note: Career Workshops will be held every Tuesday afternoon from October 7 - November 18 in Anderson Hall Room 270. Topics include resume-writing, interviewing, visa options, etc. Detailed information is posted on the ISSS Career Services web page.

    4. F-1 CURRICULAR/OPTIONAL PRACTICAL TRAINING WORKSHOP: FRIDAY, NOVEBMER 7

    Attend one of these workshops to find out everything you need to know about Curricular and Optional Practical Training! Pick up the forms that you need, ask questions, and learn from your fellow students’ questions as well. This workshop is from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in Heller Hall, room 110. CPT information begins at 1:30 p.m., and OPT at 2:30 p.m.

    5. ACADEMIC JOB SEARCH: TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 3:30 – 5:00 PM, ANDERSON HALL 270 (CAREER WORKSHOP)

    Are you hoping to find a teaching, research, or administrative position in higher education in the U.S.? In this session, learn about how to find job postings, what search committees are looking for, hiring timetables, curriculum vitae and other application materials, and interviewing.
