  1. BE PREPARED FOR WINTER WEATHER! (Update 01/22/2008)

NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS:

1. TURN IN "REDUCED COURSE LOAD" FORMS IMMEDIATELY

If you are an F-1 or J-1 student taking less than a full course of study Spring 2008 semester, you are required to fill out a "Reduced Course Load" form. If for any reason you are not registered full-time (including Grad 0999 registration), you must fill out the form, have it signed by your academic adviser, and meet with an F-1 or J-1 Adviser to submit it. You may submit the form during Walk-in hours or schedule an appointment with an adviser. For more information about full course requirements and Reduced Course Load forms, See ISSS Website...

2. IMPORTANT NOTICE TO F-1 STUDENTS

If you are:
1) changing education levels (i.e., from Master's to Ph.D.)
2) changing your major
you are required by SEVIS to update your I-20 to reflect these changes. Failure to do so could cause your SEVIS record to be terminated. Come to ISSS to speak to an F-1 advisor. See ISSS advisor walk-in hours...

3. ISSS CROSS CULTURAL DISCUSSION GROUPS - SPRING 2008

Here is another opportunity to expand your cross-cultural experiences! Applications are now available for ISSS's spring 2008 cross-cultural discussion groups. The discussion groups provide an opportunity for both international and U.S. students to share experiences and personal thoughts in a relaxed and casual environment. 5. NEW YEAR CELEBRATION AT SMALL WORLD COFFEE HOUR - FEBRUARY 1

Small World Coffee Hour is celebrating New Years festivity as it is almost New Years in many Asian countries (China, Vietnam, and Korea). Come celebrate new years with delicious traditional New Year cuisine and start your spring 2008 semester.
When: Feb. 1, 2008
Time: 4 pm - 6 pm
Where: 110 Heller Hall
Cost: Free !!!!

6. BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! FREE CROSS-CULTURAL LEADERSHIP RETREAT:
APPLICATION DEADLINE - TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 5

This retreat is for international and U.S. students who want to learn to become more effective in international environments. This highly interactive, high-energy retreat becomes a living laboratory of what it takes to work with people from vastly different cultures. You will meet other students, begin friendships with people from all over the world, and discover your own leadership potential.

A cutting edge cross cultural leadership model, Personal Leadership, will be used to develop participants' cross cultural skill-set that is needed for professional and personal lives in the 21st century.
