Please note that the Walk-In hours change weekly during the month of August to accommodate new student orientation and document check.

2.  SMALL WORLD COFFEE HOUR: FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 9

Come join us for the Small World Coffee Hour (SWCH) event, the biggest bi-weekly international hangout on campus!  The first SWCH is scheduled for Friday, September 9, not September 10, as previously announced. We will have great snacks, crafts, games, and information about events not to miss both at the U and in the Twin Cities community.  And as always, we will provide freshly brewed hot coffee, flavorful tea, world music and a relaxed environment where you can meet old friends, make new ones, or simply "network."  Hope to see you there!

WHERE:  110 Heller Hall, West Bank, Minneapolis Campus (near ISSS)
WHEN:  Friday, September 9 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

3. NEW H-1B WORKSHOP: TUESDAY, AUGUST 16
Do you find the idea of applying for an H-1B visa daunting?  Please join Dorsey and Whitney attorney Craig Peterson for an informational session about off-campus H-1B eligibility requirements, the application process, and the necessary timelines. This workshop is designed for those considering H-1Bs in industry; not for University staff.  The workshop will be held in room 1-136 in the Carlson School of Management building at 3:30PM on August 16.  Mr. Peterson will also be available to answer any questions you may have regarding the H-1B process.  The workshop is free and no registration is required.

4. NEW PERMANENT RESIDENT WORKSHOP: THURSDAY, AUGUST 18
Are you interested in becoming a permanent resident of the United States?  Please join Dorsey and Whitney attorney Craig Peterson for an informational session on the process for becoming a permanent resident.  Learn about common options for permanent residence (green cards), labor certifications, outstanding professor/researcher applications, extraordinary ability applications, national interest waivers, diversity lottery, and other related topics.  The workshop will be held in room 1-136 Carlson School of Management building at 3:30PM on August 18.  Mr. Peterson will also be available to answer any questions you may have regarding the process of becoming a permanent resident.
