3. "PRECIOUS STONES" - A PLAY ABOUT ISRAELI-PALESTINIAN CONFLICT
"Precious Stones," a play by Jamil Khoury, boldly examines the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the "safe" yet turbulent terrain of the diaspora. Set in Chicago in 1989, the story unfolds against a backdrop of disturbing images as the first Palestinian Intifada rages in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Two women, one Jewish, the other Palestinian, join forces to organize an Arab-Jewish dialogue group, only to have their friendship grow complicated. This moving performance will take place on-campus this Sunday, April 3 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in Coffman Union Theater. Admission is Free. The event is sponsored in-part by Culture Corps (an ISSS program) and numerous campus organizations. For more information, please contact Ishani Baruah.
4. IHA* INTERNATIONAL NIGHT ON FRIDAY, APRIL 1
The International Health Advocates* are co-sponsoring an International night at Gophers After Dark on Friday April 1 from 9 p.m. – 2 a.m. at Coffman Union. Events include Salsa Lessons, International Bingo, a massage therapist and a breakfast buffet. Of special interest for some will be the “Pro Evolution Soccer 4” tournament – video sports gaming heaven. Anyone who calls themselves a football fan should come and play or watch this! You won’t believe the skills and moves that you will be able to do and see. You think you’re already good… don’t believe the hype… come to Coffman on April 1 and put your skills to the test. Second floor in the MISA office from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. will be the best football game in the world… and maybe you can prove that you deserve to be called the best at the U of M!
