1. CAREER WORKSHOP – RESUMES, CVs, AND COVER LETTERS: TUESDAY, FEB. 22

Resumes, CVs, and cover letters are tickets to a job interview. Learn about format and content. Sample resumes, cover letter, and CVs will be available.

Note: The next Career Workshop will be about job interviews. The Spring 2005 Career Workshop schedule is every Tuesday afternoon from February 8 to March 8 in Anderson Hall Room 370, and April 20 and May 5 in Heller Hall Room 110. Topics include resume–writing, interviewing, visa options, etc. Detailed information is available on the ISSS web page.

2. F–1 CURRICULAR/OPTIONAL PRACTICAL TRAINING WORKSHOP: WEDNESDAY, FEB. 23

Attend one of these workshops to find out everything you need to know about Curricular and Optional Practical Training! Obtain the forms that you need, ask questions, and learn from your fellow students' questions as well. This workshop is from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in Heller Hall, room 110. CPT information begins at 1:30 p.m. and OPT at 2:30 p.m. Please see the ISSS Career Series web site for the Spring 2005 schedule and workshops details.

3. VEGETARIAN/VEGAN TALK & RECEPTION WITH DR. GREGER

As part of a national speaking tour, International Health Advocates (IHA*) and

Compassionate Action for Animals (CAA) will host a visit and vegan reception with the renowned vegetarian nutritionist Michael Greger, M.D. Dr. Greger is a physician, a prize–winning cook, and an internationally recognized speaker on a number of important public health and social justice issues. Dr. Greger will discuss everything from the basics of vegetarian nutrition and tips for meal planning to the personal and social aspects of making the transition. The event will take place this Wednesday, February 23 at 4:30 p.m. in the Tate Lab of Physics, Room 210 on East Bank.

4. GLOBAL DISCUSSION ON–CAMPUS THIS TUESDAY, FEB. 22

Join us for an exciting discussion about “Global Poverty Gap: Why is world inequality increasing in the age of globalization?” This discussion will take place this Tuesday, February 22, from 12:30–1:45 p.m. in 110 Heller Hall (West Bank).

The “Global Discussion on Campus series has been successful for about three years, with sponsorship from Culture Corps (through ISSS) and the Minnesota International Center. The series continues on Tuesday, March 1 with “Russia and China: Trends in the former and future superpowers and how they affect the U.S.” For more information, please contact Hitomi Maeda: maed0015@umn.edu
