1. Racial Identity Development
Date: Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007
Time: 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Location: Room 402 Walter Library
This workshop is designed to give participants a greater understanding of racial identity development in students of color from theoretical and applied perspectives. This workshop presents key issues in racial identity development. Together we will discuss how educators can be competent, responsive and humble as they work with students to foster positive identities and support student achievement.
2. Annual Winter Feast and Storytelling Event
Date: Thursday March 8, 2007
Time: 5:30 p.m.
Location: McNamara Alumni Center
Storytellers from the community will be involved along with the students from the U of M Dakota and Ojibwe language classes. The American Indian Student Cultural Center co-sponsors this event.
3. Creating a Supportive Environment

Come learn what kind of challenges and issues that international students encounter in the U.S. and the support they are looking for. Leave the session with tips for working with cultural differences and general tips for creating a supportive environment.
4. Traditional Hmong Wedding

Do you work with Hmong students? Do you want to learn more about the Hmong wedding process and procedure? Do you have questions about the “Bride’s Price”? Then come to this session and understand the significance of the traditional Hmong wedding. You will learn about the process and procedures and the meaning of a traditional process. Bring in your questions and we will try to answer to the best of our knowledge about this process.
