How To Apply for International Student Financial Aid

In order to apply for ISSS financial aid, you need to submit a complete International Student Financial Aid Application and include the additional documentation listed below by the June 1, 2006 deadline date. If you miss the deadline, you may still submit your application to ISSS, however, you risk not being awarded. The application forms and accompanying documents must be submitted together and in person to ISSS financial aid staff. Incomplete or partial applications will not be accepted:
You must submit the following together with the ISSS financial aid application package:

  • Photocopy of I-94 card in your passport
  • Photocopy of most recent visa stamp used to enter the U.S.
  • Current unofficial University grade transcript printed within 30 days; APAS reports are not acceptable. If you are unable to get a transcript due to a hold on your record, please consult with an ISSS financial aid staff member
  • If you applied for a US entry visa stamp or a change of status within the past 24 months, please submit copies of all financial documents submitted with the application for a US visa stamp or change of status.
  • Copies of all W-2 forms if you worked in the U.S. in 2005
  • Copies of 12 months’ bank statements of all accounts (including savings, checking and investment accounts) you had access to in 2005
  • If married, please submit a photocopy of your spouse’s most recent visa stamp, I-94 card, and supporting document (e.g. I-20, DS-2019)
  • copies of spouse’s W-2 form/s for all jobs held in 2005
  • Note to Students on J-1 visas: If your DS-2019 was not issued by ISSS, you must submit a copy of your most recent DS-2019 form with the application.

If you submit your application by June 1, 2006, you will be notified of the result before the beginning of Fall semester 2006. An email notification will be sent to your official university email address.

If you have any questions regarding the forms or the application process and you are unable to attend one of the information sessions, please see a financial aid adviser during the financial aid walk-in hours every Tuesday between 1:30 and 4:00 p.m. or call the ISSS front desk at 612-626-7100 to schedule an appointment.

Questions regarding the status of your application cannot be answered by phone or email.

You have the right to

  • Privacy of information regarding your financial aid application
  • Discuss your financial concerns with an adviser
  • Appeal award decisions.

You have a responsibility to

  • Submit a complete application and all required materials to ISSS by the designated deadline.
  • Submit any additional documents that are requested by the ISSS financial aid adviser

Walk-in Hours:

Financial aid walk-ins are as follows:
Tuesdays in the afternoon between 1:30 and 4:00 p.m.
Please be aware that if there are more students coming for financial aid walk-ins than we can see during the allotted time, we will close the sign-up early.
