English Courses at the University of Minnesota
English as a second language (ESL) classes at the University of Minnesota have been restructured. There is no longer a full-time intensive English program. This means the University cannot issue the visa documents for English only study.
While the University offers advanced-level ESL classes, to be eligible to take these courses, prospective students need apply to an undergraduate program and be admitted to the University. These classes are now offered through the English Language Program . The minimum TOEFL score required for admission is 477 (paper-based) or 153 (computer-based). Students who are admitted with scores ranging from 477-547 (paper-based) or 153-210 (computer-based) are required to register for a combination of ESL and academic courses.
If you wish to come and study English full-time in the Twin Cities, there are two local intensive programs. Both programs can issue I-20s for English only study.
