THE H-1B CAP WAS REACHED APRIL 1, 2008:
University/college jobs not subject to cap
We are writing to provide information to you about the current situation for the filing of H-1B petitions:
1-The H-1B visa quota for Fiscal Year 2009 for private sector firms was met on April 1, 2008. This means that no new H-1B petitions for private sector firms can be filed until April 1, 2009. Please go to this US Citizenship and Immigration Service webpage for details.
2-Note: Universities, colleges, government research organizations and nonprofit research organizations are exempt from the cap, and can file an H-1B petition at any time.
We strongly recommend you attend ISSS’s Spring Semester Career Workshops on H-1B visas and Employment-based Visas. See to the ISSS website for dates and information.
