U Of M Job And Internship Fair
Date: Monday, February 9, 2009
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 P.M.
Location: Minneapols Convention Center
The U of M Job and Internship Fair is free and open to all U of M undergraduate, graduate, and recent alumni. More than 200 employers are expected at the Fair.
Don’t expect to leave the job fair with a job offer. Instead, see it as an opportunity to:
- Practice and hone your job search skills, such as how to talk to employers
- Visit the ISSS Work Visa Information table (11:00 a.m. -1:30 p.m.) to learn about H-1B visas, practical training, and permanent residence based on employment (see below for details)
- Give your resume to potential employers
- Observe other job seekers talking to employers so that you can get ideas on how to best sell yourself
ISSS Work Visa Information Table
ISSS is providing an immigration information table at the fair (11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. only), staffed by ISSS advisers and two representatives from local immigration law firms:
- John Medeiros from Myers Thompson P.A.
- Craig Peterson from Dorsey & Whitney LLP
John and Craig can answer student and employer questions about work visa options after graduation, including H-1B visas and permanent residence. ISSS advisers will give information about F and J visa work options and authorization.
