1. U of M Career and Employment Resources

  • College Career Service Offices are dedicated to helping their students, recent graduates, and alumni find employment.
  • Career Resource Guide for Graduate and Professional Schools:
    ISSS, in collaboration with the Graduate School and other career offices on campus, has developed a resource guide for graduate and professional students who are looking for employment. The guide contains useful information about the job market in academic and non-academic settings.
    You will be directed to resources available on-campus, on the web and even bibliographies of resources useful to you as you write a CV or a resume, consider your career options, or develop a personalized job search strategy.
  • Resume Tutor! is an interactive workbook designed to teach you how to write a resume, provided by the U of M Office of Human Resources. http://www1.umn.edu/ohr/ecep/resume/
  • The Career and Community Learning Center helps students write their resumes; search on-line for jobs, internships and volunteer positions; and find community involvement and service-learning opportunities.

    • Diversilink Employment is a site for Hispanic engineers.
    • EuroJobs is a site for individuals particularly interested in working in Europe. Job seekers may post resumes.
    • Global Careers is a site for conducting job searches and obtaining advice regarding writing resumes, interviewing, etc.
    • IMDiversity provides minority professionals with comprehensive job seeking and career management tools.
    • International Career Employment Center has a site for its members offering the following information and services: International Career Employment Weekly newspaper, access to critical job openings, profiles of major employers of international program professionals and posting members’ credentials.
    • Monster contains free resume postings and listing of jobs both in the US and international.
    • OverseasJobs.com is an on-line recruitment network that provides career resources and employment opportunities to international job seekers.
    • Recruiter Online Network has thousands of current, open job listings posted by the top headhunters, recruiters, and search professionals in the world. Resumes may be posted for free.
    • Saludos Hispanos is a site for Hispanic job seekers to post their resumes and search for jobs.
    • TrueCareers is a site for searching jobs and posting resumes.

    • CollegeJournal from the Wall Street Journal has a variety of resources such as a job database, salary information, and resume posting.
    • CollegeRecruiter has information for students and graduates, such as job posting ads and a resume bank.
    • EmploymentGuide has a job search engine, resume services, information about interviewing, and additional employment resources.
    • Internet System for Education and Employment Knowledge (ISEEK) has information about Minnesota employment and business development, including job postings, career planning, and education and training.
    • JobsAbroad has resources about internships and employment abroad and resume writing.
    • JobStar Central has information and services regarding resume writing, career guides, salaries, etc.
    • O*NET OnLine is an application that was created for the general public-to provide broad access to the O*NET database of occupational information. It includes information on skills, abilities, knowledge, work activities, and interests associated with occupations.
    • Occupational Outlook Handbook is a nationally recognized source of career information, designed to provide assistance to individuals about their careers.
    • Recruitex offers resume editing and posting, a job search engine, and additional web resources.
    • Science’s Next Wave is a site for scientists’ career development.
    • The Riley Guide offers advice on how to prepare a resume, shows an extensive listing of places to post resumes, and has numerous links to other helpful sites.
    • University of North Carolina at Wilmington offers resources for international students as well as job opportunities abroad.
    • WetFeet is a site for conducting job research, getting advice on resume writing and interviews, and job searching.

    • Siskind, Susser, Haas & Devine (SSHD) is an immigration law firm in North America. Their site has information about H-1B (work visa) law and regulations.
    9. Governmental Organizations
    • Minnesota WorkForce Center website has been developed by the Minnesota Department of Economic Security. Employment seekers can find job listings and post their resumes.
    • America’s Career Kit is an online career development resource to assist in the job search. It is developed and managed by a federal/state partnership led by the U.S. Department of Labor. It has links to America’s JobBank, America’s CareerInfoNet, and
