New Passport Requirements For Travelers
Starting on Dec. 31, 2006
The Intelligence Reform and
Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 requires that travelers to and from the
Caribbean, Bermuda, Panama, Mexico, and Canada have a passport or other
secure, accepted document to enter or re-enter the United States. This
new requirement will also affect certain foreign nationals who currently
are not required to present a passport to travel to the United States.
The new requirements will start to be implemented on Dec. 31, 2006. See
the U.S. State Department website. Please take this
information into account if your passport is due to expire or if you
need to get a passport. There may be delays in getting a passport due to
the Dec. 31 deadline.
